FAQs

1. What documents should I upload?
A: Upload your academics transcripts, letters of recommendation, PDF files of newspaper articles, or any other documents that will give coaches a better idea of who you are both on and off the field.

2. How many videos can I upload?
A: The number of individual video uploads is unlimited however each Steel package has its own size limit for total upload space. The Intro package allows 100M of game film. Platinum allows 200M. Elite allows 1G.

3. Which video formats does Steel support?
A: Steel Athlete supports asf, avi, flv, mkv, mpeg, mpeg4, mpg, and wmv movie files.

4. How do I rip videos onto my computer?
A: There are a number of different ways to rip videos from your camera onto your computer. If you’re having issues ripping from a DVD, follow these instructions. To upload videos from your camcorder, connect it to your computer using a Firewire cable and import the footage into a video-editing program such as Windows Movie Maker or iMovie.

5. How is the Search for Coaches section organized?
A: Athletes can search for coaches by Conference, Division, School Name, State, Coach Name, Sport. Searches can be narrowed down by filling out multiple fields (i.e. Division, State, and Sport).

6. How many coaches should I contact?
A: Once your recruitment profile is complete, feel free to contact as many coaches as you’d like. The more coaches you contact, the better chance you’ll find a program that fits with your educational goals. That being said, do not send out standardized, form letters that read like SPAM. Personalize your messages for each coach.

7. What should be included under Comments?
A: Under “Comments,” write additional information about your athletic accomplishments. For example, load information such as “Team Captain,” “Two-Year Starter,” or “Voted All Region/Conference, All State, etc.” Put anything that you feel will let coaches know what type of athlete you are.

8. What should be included under Personal Info?
A; Load letters of recommendation from coaches, parents, friends, etc. Having a personal touch to your profile will give coaches and recruiters a better understanding of who you are and how you’ll contribute to their programs both on and off the field.

9. What should be included under Academic Info?
A: Load your current GPA and your cumulative GPA. If you’ve taken the tests, load your individual SAT and ACT scores. You also need to display that you’ve registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
